Thoughts on "The Election"

With the sting of defeat still resonating in the depths of my being, I thought now would be a good time to put thoughts to blog posting. I have posted 4 pictures this time instead of the normal 1. Take a moment to re-read them and let the sentiments sink into your conscienceness.

They sum up what I feel.

I do not look forward to the changes that this new administration and congress will impose upon the nation. I believe that we find ourselves in this position because of what my side, the Republicans, failed to do during the 8 years of the Bush administration. Admittedly, we were somewhat distracted by the war in Iraq, but we failed to do anything about taxes, Social Security, immigration and the border, the drug trade and jobs going overseas. And now it will be many years before we get that chance again.

We lost because our leaders abandoned Conservatism. We didn't, in the words known in Texas, "Dance with the one who brung you." We allowed ourselves, once again, to get sidetracked with the notions of fairness and being liked by the Left and the media. We have forgotten that no matter what we do as Conservatives, we will never be accepted or liked by the Left. They stand opposed to all that we believe in and base our principles on. We pandered to the Left's desire for unity, forgetting that their notions of "Unity" consists of me forgetting and leaving behind all of my Conservatism and becoming a Democratic Leftist. Being popular is more important that being right.

Which brings me to my next point. Having clear policies and a real understanding of government and leading is not a requirement for being POTUS (President of The United States). Because of the ignorance and shallowness of many of the voters in our country, Style won over Substance. Promising that " 95% of Americans will pay no taxes" still seems to be as effective as "a chicken in every pot" did a few decades ago. Our culture, accustomed to handouts of any kind, seemed loathed to bite the hand that feeds it. Rather, it just voted to continue the culture of corruption, big government and higher taxes with the belief that Government, not hard work and lower taxes, is the answer to the problem.

Many on the Left and some on the Right, on the day after the coronation of the Messiah, His Majesty Barak, gave forth the clarion call for all to come together and work for the common good.
I, for one, have no interest in "Unity" for Unity's sake. How can I "come together" and support those whose policies I vehemently opposed during the election? Just because the Democrats won does not mean that I agree with them on anything. I didn't before and I still don't now. If that makes me a sore loser, then so be it. I cannot join with them in the propagation of abortion, gay marriage, higher taxes, greater government intrusion, less privacy, decreased religion freedom and a weaker military
.

Which begs the question. Must I be a gracious and compliant loser?

NO! And again I say, NO! I must not lie down and take the beating the Left feels I rightly deserve. I say NO to the spread of Socialism in my country. I say NO to the abandonment of Reagan and Conservatism. 57 million voters said NO at the polls. I was one of them. I will continue to stand for the principles that made this country great and I will trumpet the values, both Biblical and governmental, which make this the greatest nation on God's green earth. I will pray and study and be ready for mid-term elections in '10 and to cast my vote again in 2012 for real "Change."

Will you be ready?

The Dark Night movie is not as bad as you made it out to be.... yes it is dark, but it eerily goes with what is happening as we speak. The fear and chaos that has forced what I believe the outcome of the election is what the democrats (aka the Joker) have successfully completed. But the will of the people could not be swayed when it came right down to their fundamental beliefs... (aka the ferry scene). We as conservatives MUST maintain our values and as Christians... we must maintain our faith. Those cannot be shaken no matter what the government does and that will frustrate them beyond belief. After all, we can take good example from "Rack, Shack and Beni".

So Wanderer, tell us how you really feel! :)

"The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it • wherever he will." Prov. 21:1

Although this development was disappointing for many, we must make a distinction between Obama the candidate and Obama the President.

We are to pray for those in authority and recognize their God appointed time for His purposes.

These next years are going to be interesting as the culture war continues. Our country has continued to move center left with the center constantly being redefined to the left.

Is it too simplistic to pray for a genuine Holy Ghost revival. Oh wait, we don't have to do that, we only have to get more involved politically. :)

I am reminded of the word God gave Israel during their exile, "Jer 29:7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Good days are still ahead, God has not given over His throne.

I have found myself wondering what God is speaking to us through the out come of this past election.
I have come to the conclusion that
the "church" in America has become so convinced that we live on a sinking ship that we have all but abandoned it to sit in our life boat pews and wait for the rapture. We need to be a light in this world. We are to be victorious over the darkness we are not to stand idly by and say "oh well I hope someone else will help them". Are we being faithful servants and will the Lord find us busy doing His will when He does return. Or will he find us so engrossed in our end times theology's, that we have forgotten our kingdom responsibilities.
We have been lulled into complacency that we think Government is going to fix it all. This election should be a loud wake up call to all of us. I believe that the Church needs to arise and begin to make a much bigger difference in this world. God did not call the Government to care for the sick, or the poor or the widows and orphans. He called the church.
I remember Keith Green once said "The only difference between the sheep and the goats was what they did and did'nt do" (Matthew 25)
We may live on planet Titanic but God forbid we are not such self serving goats butting heads with each other and protecting our life boats. Have we become so filled with fear that if we go and help we will ended up dumped over by the need. Are we sitting back from our place of security afraid to fill the life boats to the fullest and bring to safety in Christ every perishing soul. We must be salt and light in the world and though the days before the return of Jesus are certainly much shorter than they once were we have not been called to abandon ship but to overcome the darkness.
Hebrews 10:39 "But we are not those who shrink back and are destroyed, but those who believe and are saved."
I know I want to hear the Lord say to me. "Well done my good and faithful servant enter into my rest" Now is not the time to be at rest now is the time to be busy. The harvest is ripe and the workers are few. Will we work until he comes or are we to afraid to get our hands dirty ministering to the sick, the poor, the needy, the lost, those held prisoner. Will we make a difference or bury our talents and treasure for safe keeping?

I heard someone say recently that we should put a sign on the doors to the church saying "Closed go out and save someone". We need to stop just shinning this little light of mine at each other and start shining it out in the darkness.

Enough said - I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir.
Thanks Jeff for your articles, I always enjoy reading them.

I really liked your blog, Jeff. I think you sited things the Republicans failed to do succinctly. However I think that the overarching thing "we" (I think a larger group than merely the Republicans, though politically it is the Republicans) failed to do was to bring to the table a strong, electable LEADER politically. Not that I do not agree with an "occupy till Jesus comes" mentality, but I guess that I would state my frustrations and prayers differently. During a time when the church had NO place to stand politically -- from the early church until the "dark" ages, the real church flourished. Yes we were disenfranchised, and really really persecuted, but the church grew and had a strong impact on culture and the entire world. I too am really really sorry that Obama got elected -- for more reasons than this blog can contain. But! Who could stand and call the other side of the country in another direction????? And if you look at the popular vote percentages, not the electoral college state count, it does seem that at this time our country is DIVIDED -- more equally than the Democrats want us to believe we are. So! Where are the Joseph's who can, with anointing soaked wisdom, HEAL our economy? Where are the Daniel's who can speak to unsaved, and unrighteous "kings" and let their voice carry from "empire to empire" as REAL uncompromising spokesmen for God? Part of letting our light shine is doing what ~ and here let me be clear: I just believe this! If she wasn't Jeff's wife I would say the same thing ~ what Deborah is dong to really prepare a spirit-filled, educated, equipped generation to BE kingdom in every way so we can and we can help the next generation impact and change our world without regard to who holds the political reins. Let them chant "CHANGE" and "YES WE CAN". Chants are like mist that melts in the heat of the real day. Let us BRING change. Because we REALLY can with anointing and real vital personal relationship with Jesus, let's BE the body of Christ ON PURPOSE!!!!! Some historian may someday write a history book some day calling this the new dark ages -- so lets BE the light that we really really are.
